Pub / Music: Lilly Wood & The Prick for Virgin Radio and Guerlain

The last communications campaign for Virgin Radio is much talk about it right now because of a controversy. Originally, a mayor humorless (and very vague in its arguments) wishing to remove the posters of his city for the damage produced by the elderly this campaign. I will not participate in the debate but rather discuss the choice of music for TV commercials this campaign. Indeed, the selected song "Down The Drain" is interpreted by a group that I appreciate very much, Lilly Wood & The Prick. This is the single (released on Virgin Radio, of course) 1 album of the Paris group that starts out being drilled and I discovered several years ago.

Similarly, viewers have been able to hear them in another commercial for the fragrance by Guerlain Idyll. Amid all this jungle perfume advertisements carries us during Christmas or Valentine's Day, the spot of Guerlain rather basic and very classic, tries to emerge through his music that accompanies it, "This is a love song . But here, the song is not from the album but the EP released last year. Thus, a new version of the album comes out, including the song.

I already mentioned in a previous post the potential impact of the choice of music in an advertisement on the career of an artist or group and j hope and Lilly Wood & The Prick will broaden its audience through these two spots.

Product Placement: Sports Direct in the pay of Adidas

Today is Friday, the day of issue of the journal Free Direct Sport. The week's issue last (and incidentally of the season) surprised me. The sports newspaper had dedicated its front page to the resumption of league football in Spain, the eve of the opening of the basketball world championship. Even if I'm more interested in football than basketball, I do not think that the resumption of English league deserves such a setting before, even as a supporter of Barça.

Another surprise was always on the front page, Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema are not wearing their jersey respective clubs, but a neutral jersey Adidas F50 which it is written. It is not uncommon for this type of newspaper to have a "False" advertising a previous true, but not here. Live Sport on March 1 is not wearing their soccer jersey club, but a jersey of their sponsor, Adidas, without further reference to the page of the brand with three stripes. This is not an official advertisement but rather a product placement.

This impression of product placement for Adidas intensified by the presence of 3 banners promoting the new Adidas soccer shoes, the F50 (like on the shirts of one) with even a promotional item (or publication editorial) extolling the merits of the shoe. In fact, the entire file English football is about nothing more than advertorial on behalf of Adidas.

The influence of Adidas does not stop there, since after a double page on the transfer market with the French football of course the picture Gourcuff and Gignac, both sponsored by Adidas as their respective clubs (Lyon and Marseille), then a double page on Thierry Henry with a beautiful large picture of him wearing keeping with his new club by ... Adidas shoes to his feet Reebok, which Adidas owns.

Regarding basketball, a double page is devoted late newspaper interview after the swimmer Camille Lacourt and still before the portrait of the dummy of the week (which is not under contract with the German mark). Thus, the basketball team in France is entitled to an article very pessimistic about his chances of doing well in the competition, it is true that it is equipped by Nike.

For me, this edition of Sports Direct may be regarded more as the brand content in the sense that the advertorial about the adidas brand on which half of the newspaper headlines. It goes far beyond simple product placement and advertising as any form of clandestine media, it would be legitimate to point out not to mislead readers. In France, films and music videos are submitted (via icon), as bloggers (more or less), so why not the press.
